wheely hat das herz eines rennfahrers, der in seiner heimatstadt gasket city der könig der straßen werden möchte. doch nach einem crash sitzt er auf einem berg voll schulden und einem zerbeulten ego. als er zufällig auf das italienische auto-model bella di monetti trifft, ist es um ihn geschehen … wheely ist hin und weg, allerdings macht er sich wenig hoffnung, die schöne bella mit seinem neuen job als taxi zu beeindrucken. doch als seine herzensdame von einem bösen gangstertruck entführt wird, sieht er seine große chance gekommen. auf seiner abenteuerlichen (rettungs-)mission, bei der ihm sein freund putt putt tatkräftig unterstützt, wird wheely bald klar, dass es wichtigere dinge als ruhm und ehre in seinem leben gibt.

Kritik:
Wheely entführt uns in die Welt der animierten Autos, Mopeds und Konsorten. Der Film schafft es gekonnt mit Charme und vielen lockeren Sprüchen die Lachmuskeln der jungen Zuschauer zu strapazieren. Zwar erinnert man sich hier und da an die ähnlich gelagerte Pixar Produktion „Cars“ doch insgesamt braucht sich Wheely nicht davor verstecken. Lediglich im letzten Drittel geht dem Film etwas die Luft aus, zu generisch wirkt das Ende so dass hier das vorhandene Potential leider verschenkt wurde. Der Film wird sein junges Zielpublikum finden und für Freude und einige Lacher sorgen. Die Älteren unter uns werden ebenfalls ihren Spaß haben wenn auch nicht über die gesamten 1,5 Std.
