poetry slammerin mia bekommt die chance, als synchronsprecherin die anime-superheldin kimiko zu verkörpern. dabei entdeckt sie immer mehr parallelen zwischen sich und dieser mutigen jungen frau. auch mia hat auf einmal außergewöhnliche kräfte und kann übermenschliche taten vollbringen: genau wie kimiko sieht sie elektrizität, kann von dächern springen und menschenleben retten. sie beschließt diese erwachenden kräfte zu nutzen und auch im echten leben gegen das böse zu kämpfen. denn wie im anime planen feindliche mächte die ganze menschheit zu vernichten. in ihrem melancholischen nachbarn kristof findet mia einen seelenverwandten, und ihren co-helden. eines wird dabei jedoch zunehmend deutlicher – irgendetwas stimmt nicht mit mia. während ihr in einem manischen rausch kein opfer zu groß ist, die welt zu retten, gerät ihr eigenes leben komplett aus dem gleichgewicht: realität und wahn scheinen gefährlich miteinander zu verschmelzen.
