die elfjährige liliane susewind (malu leicher), genannt lilli, hat eine außergewöhnliche fähigkeit: sie kann mit tieren sprechen! diese besondere gabe hat lilli bis jetzt allerdings immer nur in schwierigkeiten gebracht. als ein stadtfest wegen ihrer fähigkeiten komplett im chaos versinkt, muss sie mit ihren eltern regina (peri baumeister) und ferdinand (tom beck) und ihrem hund bonsai umziehen. in der neuen stadt schwört lilli, ihr geheimnis für sich zu behalten. doch dann macht ein gemeiner tierdieb den städtischen zoo, in dem zoodirektorin „oberst essig“ (meret becker) mit dem gutmütigen tierpfleger toni (christoph maria herbst) arbeitet, unsicher – und tonis berechnende freundin, die aufgetakelte vanessa (aylin tezel), spielt ein falsches spiel. nur lilli kann, mit der unterstützung des nachbarsjungen jess (aaron kissiov) helfen, den babyelefanten ronni und die anderen tiere zu retten. ein spannendes abenteuer beginnt!
