nach dem tod ihrer schwester und ihres neffen versucht eine junge immobilienmaklerin das dunkle geheimnis eines mannes zu lüften, der all jene häuser kaufte, in denen schreckliches geschah. das leben von immobilienmaklerin julia talben ändert sich schlagartig, als ein teil ihrer familie brutal ermordet wird. ein klarer fall, so scheint es zunächst, doch julia merkt schnell, dass hinter diesem verbrechen viel mehr steckt. am tatort entdeckt sie, dass quasi der gesamte raum aus dem haus ihrer schwester entfernt wurde. gemeinsam mit ihrem ex-freund detective grady folgen sie einer geheimnisvollen spur, die sie schließlich zu dem rätselhaften jebediah crone und seinem abattoir führt - ein geisterhaus, bestehend aus endlos vielen räumen, voll mit toten und verfluchten seelen.
